Students achieve record-breaking success at IMO

The Mongolian team made history at the 66th International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO), held in Sunshine Coast, Queensland, Australia, from July 10 to 20. With one gold, three silver, and two bronze medals, the team earned 174 points, marking the highest-ever score for Mongolia in the competition’s history.

The team was led by U.Otgonbayar and T.Bazar, whose leadership and commitment were crucial in guiding the team through the rigorous challenges of the competition. Kh.Nursoltan, the Coach responsible for preparing the students, played a vital role in their success, ensuring the participants were both mathematically and mentally prepared for the event. This victory is a result of the tireless support from the Mongolian Mathematics Olympiad Committee, as well as the dedication of mathematics teachers, parents and the Ministry of Education. Their collective effort and guidance were instrumental in helping the students achieve this remarkable feat.

The 174-point total not only marks a personal best for Mongolia but also solidifies the country’s place among the top competitors on the global stage. This achievement will inspire future generations of Mongolian students to pursue excellence in mathematics and continue the tradition of success at international competitions.
