Kindergarten and primary school curricula revised

In connection with the revision of the preschool and primary education curricula, which are set to be implemented starting this fall, officials held a meeting to discuss the progress and provide updates.

The draft curriculum for preschool education, developed within the framework of the Government Resolution No. 176 was piloted from November 2024 to April 2025 in 18 kindergartens across six districts of the capital city and 12 provinces. Based on multiple rounds of discussions, expert evaluations, and recommendations, the curriculum has since been improved. As a result, members of the Mongolian National Council for Education have reviewed and supported the approval of the updated curriculum. Meanwhile, directives have been issued to improve the primary education curriculum.

Kh.Otgonbaatar, Head of a division at the National Institute for Educational Research, noted, “The preschool and primary education curricula are being updated to focus on supporting children's development, adopting a competency-based approach, and ensuring continuity between educational levels. For instance, the preschool curriculum has been revised by up to 30 percent and now includes teacher support materials such as guidebooks and workbooks. In the case of the primary education curriculum, certain content changes have been made, which will require both teachers and students to adapt to new methodologies. However, the implementation of these changes can be supported through guidance and recommendations.”
