The General Election Commission (GEC) of Mongolia has reported that ten political parties failed to submit their semi-annual financial reports for 2025 within the legal deadline, as required under Subsection 37.2 of the Law on Political Parties. The law mandates that all registered political parties submit their semi-annual reports by July 20 and their annual reports by February 10 of the following year.
To ensure compliance, GEC issued an official notice to all parties on June 26 informing them of the approaching deadline and inviting them to submit their financial reports. Out of the 37 parties currently registered with the Supreme Court, 27 submitted their reports on time. The “Truth and Right” Party submitted its report late, on July 24, in violation of the legal timeline.
However, nine parties did not submit their reports at all. These include the Mongolian Liberal Party, the Republican Party, the Mongolian Women's National United Party, the Mongolian Democratic Movement Party, the Khamag Mongol Labor Party, the Independence and Unity Party, the Mongolian Reform Party, the Truth and Right Party, and the Democratic Reform Party.
Of these, seven parties, the Mongolian Liberal Party, the Mongolian Women's National United Party, the Khamag Mongol Labor Party, the Independence and Unity Party, the Mongolian Reform Party, the Truth and Right Party, and the Democratic Reform Party have failed to submit both their 2024 annual report and their 2025 mid-year report. Under Section 21.1.2 of the Law on Political Parties, if a party fails to submit financial reports for two consecutive years, the GEC must forward this information to the Supreme Court, which may then declare the party inactive.
The GEC stated that it would proceed in accordance with the law and take the necessary steps to address continued non-compliance. Officials emphasized that timely and transparent financial reporting is critical for ensuring accountability and maintaining public trust in Mongolia’s political system.
